Volrich

History
The Kingdom of Volrich is one of the most powerful states to have emerged after the withdraw of the Nyords. Though not as fertile as the lands of Lillium and Ferran, the river Volken, which flows through the heart of Volrich and gives the Kingdom its name, provides both arable land and an artery for trade. In addition, Volrich has abundant iron and copper mines, and the Nyordsee contains some of the most productive fisheries in the world. Since the Kingdom emerged from the Volrin tribes in the aftermath of the Nyord Withdrawal almost 400 years ago, it has been ruled continually by House Karnik, one of the most powerful dynasties in the world. House Karnik has succeeded in checking the power of the local nobles, leading to a highly centralized monarchy with a large treasury and a larger army. The current king is Heinrich III Karnik, age 54. He is a seasoned military commander, and raises eagles at the royal court.

Demographics
Volrich has a population of 22 million, 91% human, 3% dwarf, 3% elf, and 3% other. The King of Volrich maintains a standing army of 8400 men, and in times of war, he can raise roughly 60,000 troops from his vassals.
